Mission
BFF’s mission is cultivating a healthy community by creating access to nutritious food, providing education and resources to promote food security and collaborating with community partners to address basic needs.
Vision
Our vision is an abundant community in which everyone has their needs met and the skills and knowledge to live self-sufficiently in collaboration with their neighbors.
History
The Farmers Market was a signature program from the start, along with Gift of Gobble. In 2015 the YFM implemented the Power of Produce Kids Club, a nationally recognized effort to raise awareness and boost health among children.
In 2020, working with the City of Yelm, Thurston Conservation District, GRuB and the FFA program at Yelm Community Schools, BFF created a community garden in Yelm City Park. The following year we added Learners Without Limits and Yelm Day of Champions to serve students in Yelm Community Schools.
Programs
Bounty for Families runs six programs serving Yelm and surrounding areas: the Yelm Farmers Market which operates weekly on Saturdays from May through October: the Power of Produce Kids Club, a free program for children ages 5 to 12 who attend the farmers market; the Yelm Community Garden which offers free gardening classes and produce to the community; Gift of Gobble, our Thanksgiving meal program which 100 families; Learners Without Limits which addresses basic needs for low-income students and families in Yelm Community Schools; and Day of Champions, an annual event that recognizes and celebrates special needs students.
