It’s November, which means it’s Gift of Gobble time if you’re in Yelm, Rainier or surrounding areas. A donation of $60 feeds a family of six with a full Thanksgiving feast of a turkey, fresh vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce and of course, dessert.

The program serves families from JBLM, nine local churches, Rainier School District, Yelm Community Schools, and individual families nominated by friends or neighbors. To nominate a family, visit the Yelm Food Co-op and fill out a nomination form. To donate, click here. Thank you for your support!

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Gift of Gobble so far! We’re happy to announce that we are over 1/3 of the way to our goal of $6,000 to feed 100 families this Thanksgiving. That means we have $3,865 to go and every bit counts. The simplest way to donate is online.  Those of you who prefer to do things in person can bring cash, check or card to the Yelm Food Co-op. Once your donation is complete you can play pin the feather on the turkey – your own personal feather with the amount and your signature if you choose to add it.

As a reminder, Gift of Gobble feeds 35 military families, 27 families through 9 local churches, 6 families through our local school districts and the rest are individual nominations. We appreciate your support!

It’s that time again – Gift of Gobble time.

Every year, Bounty for Families (formerly the Yelm Cooperative) feeds 100 local families at Thanksgiving through community support.

The families represent an authentic cross-section of Yelm: 25 are from JBLM, 27 are from 9 local churches, 6 are from two school districts – Yelm and Rainier – and the remainder are individuals nominated by the community.

Through this unique program dreamt up nine years ago by one local woman, those who may be struggling this holiday season but don’t qualify for social services can maintain their privacy and dignity.

They simply pick up all the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast, including a turkey, potatoes, vegetables, and even pumpkin pie fillings on the Monday before Thanksgiving.  Anyone can nominate a family by filling out a form at the Yelm Food Co-op or Nominate a family online and one of our volunteers will contact them and provide details of where and when.
